TALKING TO MY MOTHER (2014)
Leon Le is a self taught award winning filmmaker/photographer. After 13 years working as a professional dancer/actor/singer who has worked everywhere from dinner theater, theme parks, regional theaters, national/international tours, Off-Broadway to Broadway, he finally decided to take a stab at filmmaking. His latest short film Dawn which he wrote, directed, edited and produced receivedn much attention at more than 20 national/international film festivals. In 2012 it won Best LGBT Short, Best International Short, Best Director awards at Yxine Film Festival. And in 2013, Dawn was nominated for Best Short Film, Excellent in Short Filmmaking and the Iris Prize film award.
Talk to Her is his 3rd short film. It tells a story of love, acceptance, and missed opportunities. The idea for the film was inspired by a true story he read about a young Chinese woman who came home one afternoon to discover her new husband having an affair with another man. A rather common story in China or Asia in general, where the traditional way of thinking - that the most important responsibility of a man is to carry on the family's name - has pressured many gay men into marriages resulting in broken families and devastated hearts.
